Ciénega

Overview
The mine is supported by the small, isolated community of Nuestra Señora de la Ciénega, population 2,700. The nearest town is Santiago Papasquiaro, population 45,000 (2010 census), 153 kilometres away, which itself is 172 kilometres from Durango City. As the immediate community is entirely dependent on the mine, we provide or facilitate all basic services including housing, food, sanitation, healthcare and education.
Focus of year 2011

Through partnership with the Durango State Science and Techonology Studies College (CECYTED), inaugurated in February the town's high school, built over a terrain donated by the community.

Completed the construction of two classrooms and provided furniture at the facilities of the remote assisted middle school, over land aquired by the Family and Communitarian Groups Association.

Testimonial

"Thanks to the company and the Directors of CECYTED, the dream to build the facility became true; now, with the goal of integrating the specialisation in Technical Electro mechanics, we are sure that we will improve the future of our youth in the region".

Lic, Eng. Adolfo Mora Ocaña, Director of the EMSaD Centre.
